Hey lovelies,
My name’s Melissa, and I own Wishcraft Prints. I thought I’d share a bit about myself and how this little business got started.
I’d say I’ve always had a passion for design, in many forms, as I come from a very creative family who have turned their individual hobbies into wonderful small businesses.
In 2015, I graduated from Northumbria University with a Bachelor of Science with Honours degree in Web Design and Development. Luckily my course covered a variety of other modules over the years, including graphics design, branding, business management and photography, which gave me the skills necessary to start my own business. Although, after 4 years of studying and creating websites for university, I wanted a break from it, which turned into a few years of bouncing from awful job to awful job, just to pay the bills. Although during that time I did create a few logos and poster designs for friends and family when requested, which I always enjoyed.
It wasn’t until October 2017 when my granny passed away that I decided I needed to stop wasting my life and start enjoying each day by doing something I love, just like she did! This was when I decided it was time to start a business. I didn’t know exactly what business I wanted to start, but I just knew I needed something to keep my mind occupied, and to build something I could be proud of. Designing for friends and family was when I was at my happiest, so I took the plunge and opened my Etsy shop. For the first 2 years, I worked a full-time job alongside my shop, until I was able to support myself on this business alone.
And that’s where it all began…
All items are created and printed by myself in my little home office, within the North East of England.
Thank you to everyone that’s ever made a purchase from Wishcraft Prints, you really are directly supporting my dream and my family, and I’m honestly so grateful every single day for that.
